Joseph 'Joe' Victor Reid

Joseph (Joe) Reid, passed peacefully surrounded by love and family at Grey Gables in Markdale on Friday July 28, 2023, at age 91. Joe is survived by his wife and long time love Nadine Reid, children Brenda Reid-Bruce (Graham) of Sauble Beach, Susan Astbury (Miles) of Oliphant, John Reid (Linda) of Hillsburn N.S., Tim Reid (Anne) of West Grey and sisters Josie and Janice. Proud grandpa of Leslie, Michael (Allie), Sharah (Josh), Kyle, Leah (Andrew), Breanna (Clancy), Bruce, Brittany (Curt), Jacquelynn (Brad), Janessa, and Angela (Jason) and great-grandpa of 12. Fondly remembered by son-in-law Tom Douglas and his many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Douglas, parents Nikolas and Theresa Rybchinski, sister Pauline, and brothers Leo, Alex, Edward, Nestor, Paul, and Mike Rybchinski.

Joe left Wakaw, SK as a young man, and eventually met Nadine in Toronto. They relocated to Markdale to raise their children near Nadine's family.  For many years, he worked at Centre Grey General Hospital, where he could often be heard whistling through the halls. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, music and singing and could fix anything. Joe had an avid interest in curling, and followed it closely throughout the season. He will be remembered and sadly missed.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A family graveside service will be held at McLeans Cemetery, Bognor. The family wish to thank Dr. Brian Power, nurses Susan, Martha, and all of the caregivers at Grey Gables Pineridge Wing for their outstanding care and compassion.
