Kevin Samuel Fitzsimmons
February 15, 1964 - December 19, 2024

With great sadness, the family of Kevin Fitzsimmons announce his passing at Brightshores Health System- Wiarton, on Thursday December 19, 2024, at age 60. Deeply missed and forever loved by his mother Earline Edwards of Owen Sound, his sisters Karen Beach of Annan, Kim Boyd (Randy) of Flesherton, Kelly Moore (Randy) of Wiarton, and his brothers Wayne Edwards (Brenda) of Markdale, and Doug Edwards (Judy) of Chatsworth. Kevin was very proud to be Uncle Kevin to 12 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John Fitzsimmons, and by his step-father, Bob Edwards.

Kevin was born on February 15, 1964 - to Earline and John - a long awaited son and a baby brother for his excited sisters, Karen, Kim and Kelly.  The 4K group was complete. As a young boy, Kevin enjoyed helping his Dad in the bakery in Meaford. He especially liked to carry around and roll out a piece of dough until it was handled just enough for his father to bake it. Then he would sell the cookie, for a quarter, to his father’s cousin who was a frequent visitor to the bakery. During the family’s time in Meaford, Kevin acquired the nick name, Charlie Brown.  He was always Charlie Brown to his sisters. Following John’s death in 1969, the family moved to Markdale where Kevin attended Beavercrest Elementary School and later, Grey Highlands Secondary School. Kevin enjoyed sports and was a keen golfer, ball player and hockey player. Upon graduation from GHSS, he attended Seneca College in the Electronics Engineering Technology Program.

In 1976, Kevin’s mother married Bob and the family moved to Bob’s farm in Glenelg. Kevin was thrilled to no longer be the only guy in a house full of women. He not only gained a father but two new brothers, Wayne and Doug. Kevin’s career as a Field Service Technician took him to many countries throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. He enjoyed familiarizing himself with the food and culture and getting to know the people.  He became proficient in Spanish and could hold his own in Mandarin, French and German. While he lived for most of his life in Ontario, he also lived in Montreal, South Carolina and Hong Kong. Kevin loved animals - his best dog buddy was Gizmo. Kevin was a great cook, an amusing caricature artist and he loved to sing. He had a great singing voice and an even better laugh. Fitz was always the life of the party. His family will always miss his wonderful laugh, his big hugs and his tendency to burst into song at any given moment.

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A come and go Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 28 from 1:00 – 3:00pm. Spring inurnment Markdale Cemetery.  If desired, donations to Brightshores Health System- Wiarton would be appreciated by the family.
