Mary Anne Cathrae
March 19, 1942 - February 17, 2025
Heaven gained an angel on February 17, 2025, as Anne left us just as she lived, on her own terms, peacefully at home. She is now reunited with her loving husband (Robert) Stanley Cathrae, who predeceased her December 9, 2010. Anne was the matriarch and eldest sibling of the Martin clan. Cherished sister of Eleanor Kyte (late William) of Owen Sound, Jim Martin (Sandy) of Bracebridge, Ruth Weaver (Ross) of Owen Sound and Allan Martin (Paulette) of Woodbridge. Dear sister-in-law of Fern Johnston (late Wally) of Meaford, and the late Marg Byers (Murray) of Tara. Dearly loved aunt of Julie Martin, Joanne Martin (Rob McGlashan), Martin Kyte (Lesley), Adam Weaver (Amanda), Jeffrey Martin, Marie Wilson (Ron), Ed Johnston (Carolyn), Janine Stewart (Carl), Shelley Patay (Douglas) and Wendy Munroe (Jon). Great aunt of several great-nieces and great-nephews and 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew. Predeceased by her parents William G. and Mary Martin, brother Russell Martin and parents-in-law Gordon and Pansy Cathrae.
After retiring from teaching in the Halton Hills and Georgetown area and building their retirement home in Georgian Bluffs, Anne and Stan devoted their time volunteering to “all things Conservation”; the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, Owen Sound Field Naturalists and Huron Fringe Birding Festival, in which she received the Norah Toth Volunteering Award in 2016, just to name a few of their causes. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses of the Dialysis Units in Owen Sound, KCC, and London HSC; and Owen Sound Oncology Dept. Their professional care and concern helped guide Anne along her journey.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. Spring interment in McLean's Cemetery, Bognor. If desired, donations to Brightshores Hospital Foundation or the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
