With great sadness, the family of Patrick Murphy announce his passing at South Bruce Grey Health Services in Walkerton, on Sunday February 16, 2025, at the age of 79. Loving husband of 29 years to Donna Murphy of Walkerton. Cherished father of Shannon Murphy of Brampton and the late Erin Murphy, and dear stepfather to Scott Kuhl, Sherrie Stevens (Mark VanVeen), and Leanne West (Ed), all of Keady. Proud grandpa of Cameron, Evan, Erica, Grace, Mitchell, Madison, Brittney, Trevor, and Brent, and great-grandpa of two. Pat is also survived by his siblings Mary Murphy-Legault (Jean) of Ottawa, Margaret McKinnon (Andy) of Waterloo, and nephew Rob Saunders. Predeceased by his brother Dan, parents Dan and Alice Murphy (nee Carty), brother-in-law Larry Richards (Reta), and son-in-law Geoff Stevens.

 

Pat was born in Renfrew, Ontario, and spent his formative years in Meaford after his parents moved there when he was 8 years old. After graduating from police college, he was first stationed in Petrolia prior to his transfer to Owen Sound where he proudly served and retired as an OPP Constable in 1996. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, member of the Holland Centre-Willamsford Lions Club, and a founding member of Owen Sound Crimestoppers.

 

Cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday February 25, from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
