Remembering Douglas Van Horne
From: Leona Salloum
My deepest condolences. Treasure the memories.
From: Nabeel Salloum
“Mr. Van Horne” was a big part of our lives growing up in Don Mills. We were lucky enough to be invited to his farm and the cottage throughout our young lives. Some of our most vivid experiences came from working with Doug on odd jobs. It was always a team-building event that none of us ever forgot. He also had this great sense of humour, all the Vanhorne’s have a huge sense of humour. Doug was famous for pranks like putting a large boulder in the trunk of your car. It was always hilarious.

Mickey Schywiola and all her family are shattered at the very sad loss of their dear, longstanding friend. In particular, her son Andrew regarded Doug as a much loved mentor, especially in his younger years when he so desperately needed a father figure,

Uncle Doug will be missed by all of the family. We enjoyed his quirky humour and company. He lived life large and his way. He and his partner Carole were gracious hosts and always made us feel welcome. Our hearts are with the family at this time. Gord and Catie

My sincere sympathy to all Doug’s family. I have happy memories of good times spent with Doug and Carole at the Durham Legion dances. His happy spirit will be missed. Treasure your memories.

I roomed with Doug when we were both in London late this summer. During that short time, I was privileged to get to know Doug and enjoyed the many stories of his family, his work, his travels, his home in Chatsworth and his hunting tradition. Since then I have thought of Doug often. My sympathy to the family and friends and to Doug's partner Carole.
